چکیده
Med J Malaysia Vol 59 No 5 December 2004 It is a honour and pleasure to introduce Dr Egbert H Huizing and Dr John A.M. de Groot’s textbook entitled "Functional Reconstructive Nasal Surgery". This 386 page textbook is an authoritative and comprehensive manual catering specifically to the needs of the ENT trainees, surgeons and the Facial-Plastic community as a whole. Dr Huizing and Dr de Groot is to be complemented on their topic selection of surgical technique that have faired well for them in their vast experience from Netherlands and the rest of the world. Their results are magnificent and their appreciation of the functional anatomy and physiology of the nose which has been dealt in great detail clearly shows their aims of achieving a natural nose. By using Dr Huizing and Dr de Groot’s analysis of problems and their solutions that are based on a strong understanding of the fundamentals of the nose, this valuable information will help and guide the ENT and the Facial-Plastic community towards excellence which should improve with experience. Both authors have quite appropriately pointed out that a rhinologist requires a lifetime dedication and learning and that all of us continue our post-operative patient review over a long period of time. Perfection should be the goal of the rhinologist. The two authors have to be congratulated for compiling the contributions and presenting them in a very reader friendly format. It is hoped that the value of this textbook will be preserved by periodic upgrading in the near future. Functional Reconstructive Nasal Surgery BOOK REVIEW

Nasal Hump Reduction may Improve Dorsal Nasal (Rintala) Flap
Introduction: Skin defect reconstruction following tumor resection, is a challenge for surgeons. Nose as a key point of aesthetics has a significant role in this scenario. One of the practical approaches is dorsal nasal flap (Rintala) to cover lower 1/3 nasal defects. The disadvantages of this method are limitation to reach lower areas, especially nose tip, flap ischemia and wound dehiscence....
متن کاملComplex Nasal and Periorbital Reconstruction Using Locoregional Flaps: A Case Report
Facial reconstruction is one of the most challenging problems faced by a reconstructive surgeon. We present a case of complex facial reconstruction with a composite trauma to the nose resulting in near total loss of skin and lining along with complete loss of left eyebrow with exposed frontal bone and partial loss of the left eyelid. We combined a temporoparietal fascial flap for reconstruction...

Here we present an illustrative case report of the traumatic amputation of a nasal...

متن کاملIatrogenic collapse of the nasal valve after aesthetic rhinoplasty.
We present our experience of reconstruction of the nasal valve after iatrogenic collapse, and evaluate the feasibility and outcome of composite grafts. We selected all collapsed nasal valves that occurred after primary aesthetic rhinoplasties of the total number done at the University Tor Vergata in Rome. We excluded collapses that followed septoplasty for nasal deviation, reconstructions, and ...
